The Perfect Quiet Getaway

Do you ever feel like you're going a million miles a minute?
The busy of life overwhelms you. You just dream of a vacation, quiet, getting away.

Then I have the perfect place for you >> Woodland Cabins in southern Illinois.

Located just outside of Carbondale Illinois, its nestled perfectly on a quiet plot of land so you are close enough for convenience but secluded in your own little piece of heaven.

This was our first visit and our entire goal was to RELAX. Literally do nothing for two days other than enjoy each others company. We arrived Friday and the FIRST thing we did was open the door to awe. Our cabin was WoodSong & it was quaint, adorable and so homey. They even had an adorable Christmas tree set up for the season.

The second thing we did was jump in the hot tub! It was located just outside our bedroom door so the perfect way to relax on a cold winter night.

We surprised some friend who were also staying on the property. The fireplace was lit and it was so welcoming. There is also a grill at each cabin which cooked our delicious steak dinner. It was the perfect evening to snuggle up in pjs & had a fun evening with dinners, cards against humanity & laughs.

The next morning, I started my day on the deck overlooking the pond. The perfect place for my morning routine, sitting in gratitude. We saw a grey herring land across the pond. The ducks skirted around while the deer fed in the field across the drive. My husband was in heaven with all the wildlife.

After he started his day in the hot tub, we went for a nice walk around the property. On location there are 4 cabins each with their own privacy, close enough to visit our friends but enough for our own seclusion. In a small circle you can walk by the cabins & around the dam where you can feed the turtles (with the food provided under the sink). They even have a dock && a boat that is welcome to be used. Life jackets are in the closet at your cabin! If it was warmer, we totally would have done that.

Then back to the cabin for a quick breakfast. I loved that the cabin was fully furnished, so we could bring our own food and whip up whatever we wanted.
Later that day, we met up with our friends again to go explore. Our goal, food and winery, my love language.

We hit up a restaurant called Bandanas which was an awesome BBQ joint. The food was delicious! Then we headed out to Honker Hill Winery. When we arrived, we didn't know what to expect. When we got settled in, we had some awesome wine and sat outside fireside. #goals
Afterwards, we went for a short drive to Blue Sky Vineyards. Talk about fancy! It was definitely a different vibe than Honker Hill but still awesome. This winery had live music, food & an amazing outdoor set up which would be perfect for summer days!

Ending the evening back at the cabin!
Kenny and I got sushi in and got super lazy watching tv & sitting in the hot tub. Is it bad when you fall asleep at 9 on vacation.... or is that vacation done right?

Early morning Sunday was full of wildlife. The momma deer and her two fawns made our yard their go to. They spent the morning eating acorns right up by and under the porch; even with my husband sitting in the hot tub. A cardinal was bouncing around the deck and the squirrels were racing everywhere. We truthfully didnt want to leave. I can't count the number of times we said how much we needed this trip. It honestly gets us excited to come back to Southern Illinois.

Not only was the location superb, but the owners were fabulous. Jim was so friendly when he called, making me feel welcome before we even got their. With prompt email contact and responses I felt comfortable contacting him for anything. We even had an issue where we had to cancel our reservation, which he was so gracious & made it a smooth process. Thankfully it all turned out that we could indeed re-book and he got us set up right away.

In the cabin, they had a couple brochures/magazines to give us places to check out, things to see which is a huge plus for an adventurer like me. We got coupons for massages if we wanted to take advantage of those as well.
Not only that but they had the BEST welcome basket with water and treats on the counter waiting for us when we arrived. But my favorite was the basket filled with notebooks. It had all past visitors memories in there. Where they wrote about their stay and what they liked,  which was the perfect little touch.

We were so sad to see the weekend come to an end but we couldn't be more happy with how we ended the year. Together.

If you're looking for a nice little escape, I HIGHLY recommend Woodland Cabins. Its a stay your wont forget!

No Bake Super Cookie

Anyone else struggle with after school snacks? My kids, they LOVE junk. They walk in the door begging for candy, chips, cookies. All the things they don't need. I've made it a mission of mine to provide them healthy options when they get home. Today we are mixing up an old favorite &&& we even put a spin on it! No Bake Cookies, make with my supershake (Shakeology). We did vanilla & chocolate because my oldest is just like me; NOT a chocolate eater. So he has peanut butter flavor. These boys are gonna go nutsssss for these. I LOVE this option because its sweet, so to them its a treat. But it has the vitamins and nutrients from my supershake to help fuel their body (it acts like 7 salads) so #momwin I don't feel guilty packing this in their lunch, letting them grab a couple as they run and play. No Bake Super Cookie Ingredients: 2 scoops chocolate Shakeology OR vanilla Shakeology 1 cup oats 1 cup Peanut Butter 1/2 cup honey 1/2 cup coconut o...
